The kids & I went to Spokane for the Bloomsday Race in May. We met Momma there and had a great weekend. We spent the evening before swimming and eating a good meal. It was windy & rainy so I was dreading the next morning of racing in the rain, because frankly, I never wanted to die in the rain and I wasn't sure that wasn't going to be the outcome! The weather turned out perfect. The race is 7.46 miles and hilly, with the "Doomsday hill" around mile 5. The boys have ran it the last 2 years with momma, and I decided to do it this year with the girls in the jogging stroller. There are bands along the way and groups cheering as you go.
Dakota & Colby did GREAT! Dakota ran it in 1:01:27 and Colby ran it in 1:25:46. I am really proud of how they did. Mom & I did well and had fun. Ok, maybe fun in a root canal kind of way, but it was another memory together. There is something to be said about hindsight of pushing 75 extra pounds 7 1/2 miles. The girls slept the last mile, and I slept the next 2 days!
