I give praise to God for all His blessings and protection for Dakota and his group. They have made it to the capital city, Tegucigalpa, instead of San Pedro Sula, without any problems. They had to take back mountain roads, travel through roadblocks and be escorted, but other than that, pretty usual traveling! Their escort unit is with them until they take off, so they wil be safe, and be able to get much needed rest tonight. The plans are to fly out tomorrow, by way of Atlanta, and arrive in Portland Sunday night. So, hopefully I'll be hugging Dakota's neck by about 2:00am Monday!
Thank you for all your prayers and concern. I also want to take a minute to tell you that, although the evacuation has been stressful, I want the great work that their mission team did prior to it to take center stage. They have changed lives and touched people's hearts forever with Christ. I am so proud of Dakota and the sacrifices he made to take this trip, and to live out what he believes God calls him to do.
I'll let you know if plans change, and when I get to see that sweet teenager of mine!
FYI: I am trying to store up these feelings so that when he has a "teenager" moment in the days to come, I'll remember them!
