SUMMERTIME!!!

Our summer has definitely started off with a BANG! Busy schedule with lots going on:
Dakota started spring football/team camp the last two weeks of school and it continued into last week. If you don't know, Dakota's passion is football, and he wwas very ready to play. He is a incredible athlete and spends his time training and working out for sports all year long. Last Wednesday, during a scrimage Dakota was tackled and hit in his right knee with a helmet. After the MRI and meeting with the ortho doctor (the same one who repaired torn ligaments in Dakota's thumb last October) the news was not good. Dakota's ACL is completely torn, his MCL strained and his tibia broken by the force of the hit. He will need reconstructive surgery, but won't be able to have it for 3-4 weeks because of the fluid in the bone and swelling around the ligament. Dakota is devestated by the news it will be at least 6 months therapy and probably 9-12 months before contact sports are allowed.
Please keep Dakota in your prayers. I know God has such great plans for Dakota, but I hurt for him when he can't do what he loves. As a momma, it is so hard to see him hurt, especially when ther are no good answers to give. I am praying that the injury won't be as bad as it seems and Dakota will heal quickly and thoroughly.
Not only did this have long term effects, it was a crisis because Dakota was scheduled to leave this Thursday on a mission trip. The good news is, since the surgery is delayed a few weeks, Dakota is cleared to go on the mission trip he has been planning since last fall. He is going with a group from church to Honduras. He will just be on limited duty and have to pamper his knee while gone.
Colby is on the swim team here. They are called the Sea Monkeys. His first summer meet is next week and he is getting excited. Colby has really found some sports he likes in swimming and gymnastics. He will be doing a track meet in July and starting football this fall. So, even with Dakota out, we will have a full sports schedule!
Chandler is in swimming lessons and Buckley is playing from the time she gets up until she crashes at bedtime! Busy, busy, busy. I love summer and having my kids around. It's the greatest job in the world to be a Momma!
Lastly, the orange house is the reason I appreciate neighborhoods with associations/restrictions. This is the view out our kitchen window, as of a week ago. Being from Tennessee, we can appreciate the orange color, somewhat, but waking up to a glow in the mornings is still an adjustment! Now, if they had painted it maroon & white like the Oklahoma Sooners....
